How do I handle and dispose of the needle?

After injecting your dose, carefully remove the needle from the pen. Do not replace the needle cap, as this can increase the risk of accidental injury. Dispose of the used needle immediately in an approved sharps container. Once the needle has been removed, replace the pen cap to protect the medication from light. Used needles must never be placed in household waste or recycling bins.
